In the spotlight

The Commission has proposed a new Regulation (along with a Staff Working Document) to simplify several EU laws, including the F-gas Regulation.
The proposal suggests changes to the F-gas Portal registration rules for importers and exporters of products and equipment containing F-gases. Importers who exceed certain annual F-gas thresholds, which are also relevant for company reporting, would be required to register. Exporters would only need to register if exporting products and equipment subject to export restrictions. The trade of bulk F-gas would remain unaffected.
These new rules, which aim to reduce administrative burden without impacting EU climate goals, will only take effect upon adoption by the European Parliament and Council of the EU.
