The F-gas Regulation mandates the creation of a Consultation Forum. Its primary purpose is to provide advice and expertise to the Commission in relation to the implementation of the Regulation.
The Forum comprises experts from national authorities, transnational industry associations, NGOs, and international organisations representing supranational interests, particularly at the EU level. Representatives of individual companies or associations from a single country are not eligible to join the Forum. Additional experts may be invited on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific topics planned for discussion in the relevant meeting.
A call for applications for additional members of the Consultation Forum is continuously open. DG CLIMA takes the following criteria into account when assessing applications for new members of the group:
- Degree to which the organisation represents supranational interests, in particular at the EU level;
- Ability of the organisation to provide valuable and specialised information, advice and expertise concerning the implementation of the F-gas Regulation;
- Degree to which the organisation helps achieve a balanced participation of stakeholders relevant to Regulation (EU) No 2024/573, including environmental organisations, representatives of manufacturers, operators and certified persons;
The Forum is a permanent expert group of the European Commission.
The Commission calls meetings when stakeholders' input is required to implement the F-gas Regulation.
