The Commission will soon propose measures to ensure a smooth start of the new EU Emissions Trading System for road transport and buildings (ETS2), addressing price stability and investment needs. Plans include early auctions, an ETS2 Frontloading Facility and stronger market-stability safeguards.

The European Commission is strengthening global cooperation on carbon pricing, sharing lessons and supporting partner countries to develop effective and trusted emissions-trading systems.
