European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called on the EU and Member States to be "as ambitious as possible on our way to Paris" in his State of the Union speech to the European Parliament today.
He stressed that the EU will not sign "just any deal" at the UN climate conference in December. Europe's priority is to adopt an ambitious, robust and binding global climate deal, he said.
Addressing the need to build a stronger and more united Europe, President Juncker also highlighted the importance of the implementation of the Energy Union in boosting new jobs and growth and investing in Europe's future.
