#EuropeDay: come visit our headquarters in Brussels!

On Saturday 6 May 2023, from 10 am to 6 pm, at the Berlaymont building, you will get a unique opportunity to discover how we’re making the EU greener. Come by the Green Europe village and discover how you can help!

Climate change and environmental degradation are existential threats to our planet. The EU is taking steps to transform our society as well as improve our well-being and health and those of future generations in various areas of our lives:  

Biodiversity  

  • Did you know that 3/4 of the world's flowering plants and about 35% of the world's food crops depend on pollinators to reproduce? Pollination is one of the most critical mechanisms in maintaining biodiversity and life on Earth.  

  • Step into our Pollinator Park to discover what our world would look like without pollinating insects and learn how you can turn the tide.  

Healthy and affordable food 

  • Our current food systems cannot survive crises if they are not sustainable. The Farm to Fork Strategy aims to accelerate our transition to a sustainable food system that ensures food security and has a positive environmental impact.  

  • Find out more about the added value of the EU to ensure sustainable, healthy, and quality food to all EU citizens. Discover what the EU does for European agriculture, farmers and consumers by taking part in our interactive activities. Food tastings of #EUOrganic and protected quality products #EUQuality (PDOs, PGIs) will also take place. Experience new products and discover recipes that will benefit your health and quality of life. Ever tried algae? Here is your chance; these little organisms are truly a superfood!  

Clean energy, public transport and longer-lasting products  

  • Everyone has a role to play, and your choices matter.  

  • Whether you are just starting your climate action journey or already working to make a difference, take our quiz to uncover the most efficient everyday steps to reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to more sustainable living.  

Consumption  

  • Our everyday shopping has a very direct impact on the environment. The EU Ecolabel certifies products with a guaranteed low environmental impact, empowering citizens to make informed choices, avoid green-washing and play an active part in the green transition.  

Research and innovation  

  • We are on a mission to transform Europe into a greener, healthier, more inclusive and resilient continent. Actually, several missions, such as adaptation to climate change and its impacts, restoring our oceans and rivers, making our cities smart and sustainable, improving our soils, and beating cancer.  

  • Come on board and discover concrete innovations and how you can contribute to building a better future for all. No action is too small! 

 

The Berlaymont building is located Rue de la Loi 200, 1049 Bruxelles. The Green Europe village will be located on the -1 floor. Visitors are welcome from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entrance at 17:30). To learn more about Europe Day, discover the full programme of activities.
