Contributions are particularly sought from individual vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and traders and their representative organisations, consumer organisations & vehicle users, NGOs, advertising and publishing organisations, relevant national authorities, researchers/academics and think-tanks/ consultancies. |

Objective of the consultation |
The European Commission is launching a public consultation to support the evaluation of Directive 1999/94/EC ('car labelling Directive'). This evaluation shall examine the actual implementation and the achievement of the car labelling Directive compared to what was expected. It will provide conclusions on how the Directive has performed, what experience has been gained and what lessons can be learned. This analysis will cover the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and EU value added of the legislation. Consideration must be given to intended/expected and unintended/unexpected consequences of this measure. It will also provide indications of the degree to which the legislation is still considered to be fit for purpose. The evaluation should help the Commission to:
This public consultation will form part of the evidence base for the evaluation of the Directive. Stakeholders are invited to answer to the questions directly raised including, when relevant, the provision of data and other supporting evidence, and to raise any other issues they feel are relevant. |
How to submit your contribution |
In the interests of transparency, the Commission asks organisations who wish to submit comments in the context of public consultations to provide the Commission and the public at large with information about whom and what they represent by registering in the Transparency Register and subscribing to its Code of Conduct.
