Feedback periods on ETS implementing legislation closing soon

The European Commission needs to update several regulatory acts for the implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System. Eight draft acts are open for public feedback, with the consultation periods closing between 23 August and 1 September.

As part of the 'Fit for 55' package, the ETS Directive has been revised to align it with the new EU target set in the European Climate Law to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% (compared to 1990 levels) by 2030.

Following this revision, the European Commission needs to update several regulatory acts for the implementation of the ETS. The following four draft acts are open for public feedback, with the consultation periods closing between 23 August and 1 September:

Regarding the maritime sector, four additional acts have been published for feedback, these are the first set of acts needed for the implementation of the inclusion of the sector in the scope of the ETS as of 1 January 2024. Four further acts are under preparation for feedback later:
