Commissioner Arias Cañete said: "the lessons for the EU from the IEA's 2014 World Energy Outlook are clear: in an increasingly unstable world, the best route to improved energy security is a low carbon and energy efficient one. It also sends a clear message to the world that current trends could lead to global temperature increases of 3.6 °C, and increased energy security concerns. Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič: "Looking at global energy developments up to 2040, the World Energy Outlook 2014 is a strong reminder that sustained political efforts are essential if we want to change energy trends for the better.
