A restricted call for tenders for the appointment of the auction monitor under the EU Emissions Trading System was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 12 May. The auction monitor will be entrusted with monitoring and reporting tasks provided for in the Auctioning Regulation1 in relation to the common auction platform and the opt-out platforms.

The closing date for bidders is 20 June 2012.

In contrast to the procurement procedure of the transitional common auction platform, the tender process will stretch over two phases.

The Commission aims to appoint the auction monitor before the end of 2012.
