Today the Climate Change Committee approved without any major changes the Commission's proposal to update the Regulation which governs the registry infrastructure underpinning the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).

The Commission will now submit the proposed amendment to the European Parliament and the Council for their scrutiny. Provided that they raise no objections within three months, the Commission will adopt and publish the amendment, after which it will enter into force.

The updated proposal will be published on this page by the end of Thursday 24 January.
