Germany's contract with its current opt-out auction platform, the European Energy Exchange AG (EEX), will expire on 14 November 2018, with the last auction under the current contract scheduled for 9 November 2018.

Germany has notified the Commission of its intention to reappoint EEX as its next opt-out auction platform. EEX may only resume auctions for Germany once the ETS Auctioning Regulation has been amended to list EEX as Germany's new opt-out auction platform.

The preparation of this amendment is currently ongoing to ensure that the auctions for Germany resume on the earliest possible date. The Commission expects the auctions to resume in the course of Q1 2019.

The 2019 auction calendar for Germany will be finalised and published by EEX after the amendment of the Auctioning Regulation has entered into force. This calendar will also include the volumes from the German auctions that will not take place after 14 November 2018.

Further updated information will be communicated on this website.
