The European Commission has announced a grant contribution of €15 million to the NAMA Facility, a financing instrument for projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in emerging and developing countries.
The EU will co-finance the third call in 2015 together with the UK, Germany and Denmark. The donors envisage contributions totalling €85 million, which represents a substantial increase compared to the amount available in previous calls.
The NAMA Facility, launched in 2012 by the UK and Germany, has so far supported five projects to reduce emissions and pave the way for green growth in different sectors such as transport, renewable energy and agriculture in Latin America and Asia. The results of the second call for proposals were announced on 11 December during the UN climate conference in Lima.
