2015 auction calendars for general and for aviation allowances published

EEX and ICE have today published their 2015 calendars for the auctions of general allowances and of aviation allowances.

EEX and ICE have today published their 2015 calendars for the auctions of general allowances and of aviation allowances.

General allowances

The total quantity of general allowances to be auctioned amounts to 652,196,000. This amount is comprised as follows:

EEX Poland Bi-monthly auctions on Wednesday afternoons

An amount of 11,328,500 and 19,470,500 allowances is to be auctioned respectively by Croatia and the EEA-EFTA States for the years 2013 to 2015, for which auctioning is still to start.

The volumes are based on the estimated amount of allowances to be auctioned and taking into account the backloading decision (i.e. a reduction of 300 million allowances for 2015) as well as allowances withheld from auctioning pursuant to Article 10c of the ETS Directive but not allocated in previous years (7.8 million allowances to be auctioned in 2015), as confirmed by the Member States concerned.

Aviation allowances

The total quantity of aviation allowances to be auctioned amounts to 17,255,000. This amount is comprised as follows:

EEX Poland 1 auction : 25 March

An amount of 69,000 and 864,500 allowances is to be auctioned respectively by Croatia and the EEA-EFTA States for the years 2012 to 2015, for which auctioning is still to start.

The 2015 aviation allowances auction calendars contain the volumes to be auctioned for the calendar years 2013, 2014 and 2015, as well as 2012 for Poland, and have been determined on the basis of the expected annual amounts to be auctioned of 5.7 million for each of the calendar years 2013 to 2015. All the auctions will take place on Wednesday mornings.

The aviation allowances to be auctioned for the years 2013 and 2014 will be auctioned before 30 April 2015, which is the compliance deadline for aircraft operators for the years 2013 and 2014.

Coordination

The determination of the auction calendars have been closely coordinated between the European Commission, the Member States and the auction platforms.
