Side event at COP25: Getting to climate neutrality by 2050 - we need to start now!

A commitment for Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent will be at the heart of the European Green Deal to be proposed by the European Commission. Just as the new Commission kicks off, hear from Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, about the potential pathways to turn climate neutrality by 2050 into reality and seize the opportunities from this transition.

An ambitious policy framework is needed that links short and long-term policymaking and brings immediate benefits to people’s everyday lives. International partners and ambitious businesses will share their perspectives on how to enable businesses and investors to deliver actions needed to transform Europe’s economy.
