Description
The 2019 Montreal Protocol Meeting on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP31) will be held on 4-8 November in Rome, Italy. The EU and its Member States will take part as Parties to the Montreal Protocol. The Commission will also host a side event on safety standards for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
At the meeting, the Parties will discuss among other issues the recent unexpected rise in emissions of ozone-depleting CFC11 in East Asia, the next funding cycle of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol dedicated to assisting developing countries in their compliance efforts, and the future focus of the scientific work of the Protocol for the next 4-year period.
On 6 November, the Commission will host a side event on safety standards for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. An overview of some of the most important developments, such as the recent approval of a standard for commercial refrigeration appliances and the ongoing revision of a standard for air conditioning, will be presented.
