The European Green Deal is our new roadmap to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, turning climate and environmental challenges into opportunities across all policy areas and making the transition just, leaving no one behind. To achieve this, the involvement and commitment of citizens and all stakeholders is vital.
This is why the Commission will launch the European Climate Pact to give citizens and all parts of society a voice and role in designing new actions, launching grassroots activities, sharing information and showcasing solutions that others can follow. It will bring together citizens, civil society, industry and European, national, regional and local authorities and institutions.
In this context, the Climate Pact Citizens’ Dialogue will take place on 4 March in Brussels. Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans will announce the launch of an open public consultation on the Climate Pact and will invite all citizens and stakeholders to join with ideas and suggestions.
The event will also provide an opportunity for an open dialogue on the Climate Pact bringing together young people and their representatives and European local and regional authorities.
The Climate Pact event is taking place together with the EU Covenant of Mayors Ceremony, as the EU Covenant of Mayors will be a central force of the Climate Pact.
