Carbon pricing is gaining ground worldwide as a cost-effective way to cut greenhouse gas emissions and drive clean growth. Building on 20 years of experience with the EU Emissions Trading System, the European Commission’s Task Force on International Carbon Pricing and Markets Diplomacy works with 25+ partner countries to advance high-integrity carbon pricing and markets policies.
Two new publications, the Task Force’s 2025 Activity Report and the EU Carbon Pricing Study Tour Booklet, showcase recent cooperation with partners such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Kazakhstan, and outline lessons learned from the EU’s approach to emissions trading.
Stronger EU climate diplomacy: expanding carbon pricing worldwide presents the first year in review of the European Commission’s Task Force on International Carbon Pricing and Markets Diplomacy. The publication highlights the EU’s efforts to support partner countries in designing and implementing effective carbon pricing systems, fostering international cooperation, and promoting high-integrity carbon markets.
