Call design
With a budget of €1 billion raised from the auctioning of EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) allowances, the IF24 Battery call covers electric vehicle battery cell manufacturing for projects demonstrating innovative technologies, processes or products, that are sufficiently mature and have a significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This call is a response to the appeal made on 6 December 2023 by the previous Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič to bolster the EU's battery manufacturing industry by allocating up to €3 billion in support to the sector.
Before launching the call, we consulted stakeholders on the scope to collect feedback on the call design.
