#ClimateFactsMatter - Countering climate disinformation in the EU

Welcome to the #ClimateFactsMatter campaign toolkit page. On behalf of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) we are pleased to share with you material you can use to help amplify the campaign.

Climate disinformation

The #ClimateFactsMatter campaign is part of the European Commission’s actions to help fight climate disinformation, as this topic has growing impact on climate action across the EU. The campaign runs across all EU 27 Member States with four focus countries: Finland, France, Italy and Poland.

Objectives of the campaign

The #ClimateFactsMatter campaign aims to strengthen societal resilience against climate-related disinformation and manipulation. It focuses on sharing information on how to spot climate disinformation and the main techniques being used to mislead, so citizens across the EU can make informed decisions. ​ 

The campaign’s main objectives are: ​ 

  • To raise awareness about climate disinformation ​
  • To inform citizens about climate change and EU climate action
  • To invite citizens to take part in informed public debate

  • Climate disinformation exists and prevents us from getting access to accurate climate facts.
  • Let's use tools and knowledge on how to spot disinformation and to think critically about the purpose it serves.
  • The EU is taking action to fight climate change. because climate change is real and tackling it helps keep people safe and build a sustainable future.
