Description
Under the framework of the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Regulation - which will establish an EU voluntary framework for certifying carbon removals, carbon farming and carbon storage in products generated in Europe - the Commission, supported by an
Expert Group on carbon removals, is working on developing tailored EU certification methodologies for different types of activities.
This interactive dedicated workshop on Peatland rewetting will dive deep into best practices and challenges in developing certification methodologies for peatland rewetting as part of carbon farming activities.
We will discuss key issues related to methodology development focusing on the aspects of quantification and sustainability. These discussions will feed into the ongoing work on the development of an EU methodology for peatland rewetting.
The workshop will be structured in two parts. The first half will be a webinar-style session open to all participants while the second half will be designed as a dedicated and more specialised feedback session on the aspects of quantification and sustainability in small breakout groups.
